Jason Pulgarin: Bridging Brooklyn and Borinquen
Born and raised in the vibrant neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Jason Pulgarin is a socially conscious artist of Puerto Rican and Colombian descent. His upbringing in the culturally rich area of "Los Sures" has profoundly influenced his artistic journey, infusing his work with themes that reflect his heritage and community.
In November 2024, Jason returned to his roots, showcasing a new ceramic series at Café con Cé in Puerto Rico. The exhibition, titled "Bendición," was presented by Sabroso Projects. Reflecting on this experience, Jason shared, "Far from the Island but fueled by my Puerto Rican culture, my neighborhood 'Los Sures' in Brooklyn built the foundation of my identity."

Looking ahead into 2025, Jason is preparing for an artist residency in San Juan, where he plans to further explore and expand upon the themes of identity, culture, and community that have become central to his work.
